Description
A segmented Walnut salad bowl with Sapele Rim, Medium. I’m calling this one a medium (normally 4.5″H), but it’s a little higher than normal at 6″.
Completed: March 2020. Comprised of 6 rings (96 pieces) sitting on a solid Walnut base.
Measuring: 6″ high x 10″ wide (top) x 3.75″ wide (bottom). (15.25cm x 25.4cm x 9.5cm)
Finish: multiple coats of Walnut Oil*** and is completely food safe.
**Segmented turning is turning on a lathe where the initial workpiece is composed of multiple glued-together parts. The process involves gluing up several pieces of wood to create patterns and visual effects in turned projects. More information at Wikipedia.
***WARNING: although Walnut Oil is derived from the shell & husk, not the meat of the nut, & is unlikely to produce an allergic reaction, if you are concerned, I offer other salad bowls that are not finished with Walnut Oil.
